The IRS has reported that over 80 million Americans have already received their stimulus checks during the COVID-19 pandemic. But, many are still waiting.

Have you logged onto the IRS website recently only to see the status of your check say 'status not available?' Well, you aren't alone - many people are seeing this. But what exactly does that mean?

For most people. it just means that the IRS is processing your bank information. The 'get my payment' system hasn't updated with tax payers information.

If you're collecting social security or disability benefits - it's not required for you to submit a tax return, you don't need to do anything. It just may show the 'status not available' on the website in the mean time.

For others, if you owed money on your 2018 or 2019 taxes, the IRS may not have a bank account to link to for you to get your money. You may also see this message if you did not file a return in 2018 or 2019.

Keep in mind, if you don't have a social security number or you made too much money in the last year, you won't be receiving a stimulus check. And remember, there is no real way to tell when you'll be able to expect your check if you haven't gotten it already.
