Partner On Job Readiness Event

The BOCES Consortium of Continuing Education (BCCE) and the Workforce Development Board are partnering to present “Get Ready to Get Hired,” an employment preparation event open to the community.

The new event will offer local residents searching for employment a variety of job-readiness resources, services and skills to prepare them to actively join the workforce. It will be held on October 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kallet Civic Center in Oneida.

“This event will address basic needs of long-term unemployed individuals struggling to break into the job market,” BCCE Director Kathleen Rinaldo said. “We know there are many unfilled vacancies within the employer community and we know there are many people who want to work but are not tapping into the workforce development system for help.”

During “Get Ready to Get Hired,” participants will walk away with more than information. They will have the opportunity to attend a variety of small breakout sessions throughout the day focused on preparing for job interviews, dressing for success, creating a resume, understanding employers’ expectations and basic personal finance. They will also be able to speak with local job placements specialists about work-readiness and browse racks of gently used interview attire. Refreshments will be available for those attending.

“The Workforce Development Board is proud to partner with BOCES in this project. Our community is rich with resources and this event is a great way to bring them directly to people who can benefit most,” said Alice Savino, Executive Director of the Workforce Development Board.

In addition to the event organizers and the Kallet host site, four area business sponsors are supporting “Get Ready to Get Hired.” Thank you to 31 Express in Oneida, Circle K in Oneida, Price Chopper in Oneida and Isbell Excavating in West Eaton for their contribution.
