New York State lawmakers have introduced a new bill regarding what people are allowed to bring to restaurants.

CBS 6 Albany reports that a bill has been introduced in New York State congress that would force restaurants to let patrons bring their own reusable food and drink containers. Think Tupperware and reusable water bottles. The bill is called the Right to Refill Act. State lawmakers hope it will down on the use of single-use plastic containers across New York State.

According to CBS 6 Albany, Assemblyman Pat Fahy and Senator Jen Metzger drafted the Right to Refill Act. This is so restaurant customers can take home leftovers in their own containers. Therefore, using less single-use plastic containers. The demand for plastic is expected to rise by 22% by 2024.
