These 3 New York Lakes Vying For Best in Country-You Can Vote
If you’re looking for the perfect summer lake getaway, New York has plenty of options, and now three familiar favorites are getting national attention.
New York is home to more than 7,600 lakes, and three of them are in the running for USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice list for Best Lakes in the country.
Lake Champlain
One of the nominees is Lake Champlain, the massive lake that stretches more than 100 miles along the border of New York and Vermont. On the New York side, places like Plattsburgh offer waterfront restaurants, parks, trails, and easy access to the lake for boating, relaxing, and exploring.
Lake Erie
Another nominee is Lake Erie. While it’s the shallowest of the Great Lakes, it’s packed with things to do. Visitors can enjoy fishing, wildlife watching, beaches, and even shipwreck diving. Buffalo also gives visitors plenty of waterfront views, along with a growing food and arts scene.
Lake George
Then there’s Lake George, a longtime summer favorite in the Adirondacks. Call me biased, but out of these three nominated, Lake George has to be the best choice. From Millionaires’ Row to sunset cruises, parasailing, beaches, and swimming, it continues to be one of the most popular warm-weather destinations in the Northeast.
Voting for USA Today’s Best Lakes in the U.S. is open now through May 25th, and fans can vote once per day. Winners will be announced on June 3rd.
