Challenger Astronaut, Jarvis to Get New Memorial In Mohawk

Senator Schumer has announced that he's pursuing a memorial monument for Greg Jarvis, a former Mohawk resident who was one of the astronauts aboard the Challenger space shuttlewhen it exploded in 1986.

Jarvis was the payload specialist for the mission on behalf of Hughes Aircraft and graduated Mohawk High in '62 (which was renamed in his honor in recent years.)
